This is one of the most rewarding events of our year, when interns, hosts, and families come together to celebrate a summer of learning through work. On July 28, 2014, we shared a potluck dinner, then interns presented their final projects in an expo of great graphic design and creativity. The evening concluded with the presentation of certificates, when hosts told of the efforts of interns above and beyond what was asked of them. Interns beamed with pride as they received their awards of completion, and posed for photographs with hosts and families.
During the past two months this crop of students experienced a real world introduction to possible careers, and discovered whether they may (or may not) want to pursue that field. The hosts shared college and career advice with interns, modeled professional expectations, and worked with the students to find out what they were interested in so that they could tailor their assignments to help them learn specifically about that area.
The Internship Teachers are very proud of this exceptional group of students and extremely grateful to the hosts who opened their workplaces to provide an unforgettable summer experience to thirty dedicated young people.
