As a Lighthouse program, AOAT is a host for the annual fall regional meeting for teams from CPAs in our area. This year’s event was attended by 15 educators and our Sacramento leaders, Jerry Winthrop and Colby Franklin. AOAT was also represented by an Advisory Board member and a parent.
This year’s AOAT Student Ambassadors welcomed and escorted the visitors to the buffet breakfast and presentation. This is a great opportunity for the juniors and seniors to practice their professional conversational skills and promote our program. Thanks, team!
Samueli Academy, a Public Charter High School in Santa Ana that focuses on engineering and design pathways, visited Cleveland High School to learn about AOAT, and how our California Partnership Academy operates. Our Student Ambassadors gave them a tour of our campus and provided them with an introduction to what our learning community is all about. Our Coordinators and Lead Teachers hosted a lunch session to answer questions and mentor their team in planning curriculum connections. Connecting with other schools also helps us think about ways to enhance AOAT.
S & S
On Wednesday, the first Peer Mentor Meeting was held in A-2 and A-3. Students from every grade came and participated, mentors and mentees. A workshop was provided where the mentees got to talk to some of the mentors and interact with them. Overall, many more students showed up than last year’s launch which shows great involvement. Mentor meetings are every Wednesdays in A-2.
AOAT held a meeting for all 9th and 10th graders’ parents. Teachers explained the basics of AOAT such as the new grading program we are using this year, “Schoology.com”. Art Club, sponsored by AOAT, contributed to Back to School Night by selling food to raise money for the club’s involvement at Cleveland. It was a great night which was really informative to all AOAT parents.
This year we have two seniors who will be posting on the blog: Sabrina is taking photos and making montages, and Stephanie is writing the entries. Big thanks for stepping up, Ladies!
