Fall means floats, and Art Club created another winning entry in the Homecoming competition. Theme this year was amusement park rides, and the Club’s Alice in Wonderland designs were terrific, from painted backgrounds and props to colorful costumes. Enthusiasm builds over the two weeks of long hours required to build such a masterpiece, and teachers provide support and a cheering section for these talented students. Go Art Club!!
We closed out the busy fall semester with our annual senior class tradition: all students worked on a real design assignment for an outside client. This year they created fliers for Gaspar Insurance sales teams or designed a logo, business card and brochure for Donna Hill’s new hypnotherapy practice. The deadlines were real, and students had to print their projects and present them during the 2-hour final. Clients scored their designs, and will be able to reproduce the materials when all revisions are finalized. Way to go Seniors! Only one more semester until graduation…
Building on previous years’ experience, Seniors concluded the fall semester of Graphic Design Production class by creating design materials for a client at Cleveland Charter. Some students chose to work solo, others teamed up for the project, but all had to participate in the process of client contact and interaction, preliminary designs, revisions and submission to client of final printed and/or digital files. Clients ranged from other small learning communities, to sports teams and school clubs, to AOAT itself which was in need of logo and brochure updating.
Presentations to the teachers took place during the 2-hour final, and were happily followed by a “healthy pot luck” of only home-made dishes – Yum!! Only one semester to go, Seniors!!!
